Geography careers, geo-jobs and skills

Since August 2013 EUROGEO has increased its focus on geographical careers and jobs. Currently the association is involved in two vocational education and training projects for the geospatial sector, GeoSkills Plus and GI-N2K.

GeoSkills Plus logo

The GeoSkills Plus project concerns vocational education and training. It recently held a workshop in the Netherlands to present and discuss information gathered on Cooperation Models, Awareness Raising and Bridging the Gap between labour market demand and supply. GI-N2K aims to answer the question on how the education and vocational training in the domain of GI Science & Technology can match with the actual job requirements in the job market. The social media activities of EUROGEO have been listing jobs for geographers, fellowships, research posts, administrative and lab jobs, as well as PhD and other studentships. Following is easy, by joining the EUROGEO LinkedIn group.

The European Journal of Geography (EJG) is the main publication of the European Association of Geographers. It seeks to provide commentary and the latest research in all areas of geography and related subjects. The purpose of the journal is to promote the discipline and the work of geographers to decision makers. EJG is an important lobbying tool in Brussels and Strasbourg. Geographers need to have increasing influence in decision making circles and, based on their work and research, have many important things to say.
